M2M: Friends Forever Best buds make the best music June 2000 What could be better than working with your best friend every day? Nothing, according to the 'Don't Say You Love Me' -- singing pals Marit Larsen and Marion Raven of M2M, who released their US debut album Shades of Purple in late March. These two Norwegian pop princesses started making music togething while growing up in the same neighborhood outside of Oslo, Norway. Always singing and performing in shows for friends and family, these two thiny tunestresses knew that a sisterhood of success was ahead of them. "Marit and I met when we were 5 years old and we've been friends ever since," relives Marion, who celebrates her sweet 16 on May 25. "We started singing together, playing around, and I think or group has started then." For the last 10 years, thesr two songbirds have been warming up their chilly homeland with cheery harmonies and massive musical talent. Before they came to the US to work on the Pokemon: The First Movie soundtrack in 1999, Marion and Marit had recorded an album of children's songs back in Norway, and also served up some double delight in Norwegian musical theater productions of "Annie" "The Sound of Music" and "The Wizard of Oz". Not only sensaysh singers, both girls play instruments, too. Sixteen-year-old Marit strums out tunes on the guitar and Marion plays the piano with pride. This talented team even wrote 12 out of 13 songs on the Sahdes of Purple. And while these two may look like opposites , everything they do, they do as two. "It's just really, really great",Marit explains to BOP. "I wouldn't consider doing this without her." For two sweet peops like the beauties of M2M, it's difficult for either to imagin succes without the other to share the ups and downs with, "Marion is really funny. She's a really good friend. She's someone who cheers me up" Marit smiles. Because these two have been on the move promoting their groove, and hardly get a chance to go home, they cherish being able to share downtime with someone so special. "We just have a lot of fun. She's totally crazy," Marion giggles, describing Marit. "It's just really cool to be with her and I just think it's great, because I thinks it would be so boring being alone." It may be fun to forge fame solo-style, but these two Norwegian knockouts are convinced that double trouble makes success sweeter! >> BOP Magazine
